Austin and Regal always seemed like natural antagonists, one a beer-drinking, hell-raising Texan and the other an uptight Brit who enjoyed tea and crumpets, and their paths would eventually cross during the Invasion angle in 2001 when they were both members of The Alliance.

Together they were responsible for promo gold when they exchanged verbal barbs in the aftermath of Regal joining Vince McMahon's "Kiss My Ass" Club, and with Austin out of the title picture heading into WrestleMania X8, it would have been cool to see the pair go at it a little while longer.

Instead, they had a blow-off strap match on an episode of SmackDown and headed their separate ways. It was short and sweet, but mainly short.
