Dean Ambrose probably wasn't the company's first choice to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 earlier this year, but a spate of ill-timed injuries to top stars forced their hand.

It felt like a two month feud condensed into one, mainly because the Lunatic Fringe needed weapons to level the playing field. They went straight into a No Holds Barred match without having a standard bout first, and although this helped elevate their meeting at 'Mania, it left them out of options if they had any plans to prolong the story.

Lesnar won, to the surprise of no-one, before heading off on his obligatory mid-year hiatus, leaving Ambrose without the opportunity for a riposte.
