Just like rumors about the brand split have circulated the internet for a week now, there's also been speculation and, more accurately, hope that NXT could be "promoted" as the second major brand to WWE. For those that had wished for this to happen, they'll have to keep wishing because the role of NXT remains the same it has always been: to first and foremost develop talent for the main roster.

All of the success that Triple H's yellow brand has achieved thus far is icing on the cake. The addition of live events and the cross-country touring abilities have helped increase interest in the product as well as the revenue WWE's been able to generate from NXT.

Still, the promotion's primary focus is to prepare talent for the main stage of WWE, as in RAW or SmackDown, and Vince McMahon is not going to disrupt or change that model despite NXT's rise in popularity.

If anything, NXT will likely see more competitors come through their doors and even see their roster size expand now that WWE has two major programs to prepare talent for. There's no longer just one destination for which the talent can aspire towards, but two, and with the increase in opportunity will likely come an increase in competitors.
