10 Questions Every True WWE Fan Has Asked Themselves

9. How Long Does A Wrestler Have To Stay Out Of WWE For It To Technically Count As A "Retirement"?

Seriously, what's the barometer for this sort of thing? Is it like a case-by-case thing? Because that doesn't really seem fair. But I suppose a change in commissioners (which is something the WWE swaps out like bedsheets) might warrant a tweaking to a rule like this. Regardless, since a loss in a Retirement Match doesn't officially end that wrestler's career with the company for good, it should at least make them take a year off or something. Let's use Ric Flair as our example. Remember when The Nature Boy had that insanely awesome Retirement Match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24? He was back on WWE programming less than a year later managing a bunch of other supposedly retired WWE legends in a 3-on-1 match against Chris Jericho. ...And then he left again. ...And then he came back to WWE three years later, where he began poking his head in on random episodes of television. It's less like he's retired and more like he keeps getting lost on the drive home and just keeps winding up at various arenas around the country to ask Vince McMahon for directions.
