2. Becoming Involved With Triple H
A potentially controversial topic is the story of how Steph and Triple H became involved romantically with each other. Triple H was in a relationship with Chyna at the time and began seeing Stephanie, his on-screen wife, behind her back. It was a situation that created a lot of tension backstage and eventually had a hand in Chyna's release in 2001. Austin would have been more than a little aware of this, since he was working against and teaming up with Triple H a lot at this point. He must have seen or heard something that confirmed his suspicions and he and Steph could definitely reminisce about this period of their lives. According to both Triple H and Stephanie, Vince forbid the relationship after initially giving them permission to date. Vince knew the implication that the top star dating the boss' daughter would have so he told them 'no', only to have a change of heart when he realised how much it was effecting them and their work. How did Steph deal with this situation at the time? Was there ever a point that Trips and Steph were going to call it quits and acquiesce to Vince?
