10 Questions With ROH’s Brutal Bob Evans

5. Training At The ROH Tryout Camps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7qimteKdsc What do you and everyone else at Ring of Honor look for when wrestlers try out at the seminars? BBE: The reason we are all there is because we all have different things. We all have different eyes, different tastes, different strengths and weaknesses, and come together because if we see someone that knocks it out of the park, we will give them an opportunity. We€™ve had about 450 kids go through there and we€™ve given out 11 contracts and over 50 paying gigs. I€™m not talking about throwing on a shirt and being security, I€™m talking about having a match, being a referee, or being a manager. Overall, we are looking for people who are excellent, excellent, excellent, at what they do. We had some body builders who deadlift 500 pounds, there was a guy who could jump through the roof, we also had a kid who was dressed like s space monkey. They were all good at what they did, and we gave them advice on how to improve and follow up because they weren€™t there yet. To use a metaphor, we are trying to teach these kids how to swim and help them navigate the waters of pro wrestling.
