10 Questions With TNA World Champion Drew Galloway
6. TNA’s Problems
It’s common knowledge that TNA has been downsizing and cost cutting for nearly three years. We’ve all read the reports about late payments, poor morale, et cetera. Have you been affected by this?
“Personally, no. It’s a running joke backstage. Everyone keeps shouting, ‘High morale!’ backstage because, genuinely, there is high morale backstage.
“I’ve grown up in the social media age, and I’ve learned that you will murder yourself, if you read too much into everything. For me, everything’s been on time. Backstage, everyone is genuinely working their !*$% off and helping each other. I remember [Kurt] Angle having words with me and EC3, in particular, making sure everybody was helping each other to get better.
“The [recent PWInsider] interview with [Pop] President Bradley Schwartz should have answered everybody’s questions. He was, like, ‘Actually, why on earth would we get rid of the second highest-rated show on the network?’ I’ve met him and a couple of other guys from the network, and they are very passionate about [TNA]. They came in at the last [Impact] tapings to film a lot of unique content, which they could use on the network to promote the show.
“I don’t know why people feel the need to attack [TNA]. If you’re truly a fan, and I’m the biggest mark ever; I just took it too far and started doing it for a job. I just want all wrestling to succeed. I wish everyone felt the same.”
