6. So, Is The Royal Rumble Going On The Pre-Show Too?
The 5-on-5 Survivor Series match is supposed to be a staple of this annual event, but it was clearly far from a priority last night. The first of these was shoved onto the Kickoff show, with an assemblage of superstars who were seemingly found by someone from the WWE creative team rounding up the first ten guys they came across backstage with their gear on hand. Some baffling choices were made in this one, with The Ascension continuing to look like a joke after being taken out by transitional movies, and Neville leaving far too soon. We didn't even get any sort of payoff with Goldust and Stardust as I've already mentioned, so this clearly wasn't put on the card to achieve anything more than finding a way to kill some time on the Kickoff with something other than video packages. As for the match on the main show, the way The New Day were handled was definitely problematic, but even worse is the fact that no one came out of it looking good. The WWE had a chance to make The New Day even more dominant or to keep pushing a possible singles run for Kalisto by having him overcome the odds but, as it stands, both of these were entirely forgettable and meaningless.
