10 Quick Fixes For WWE In 2019

2. End The Commentary Nightmare

WWE's commentary is an aural nightmare, and it doesn't matter who is behind the desk.

We rejoiced upon the demotion of Jonathan Coachman and the promotion of Renee Young. Theoretically, this would have seen an end to Coach's infuriating inability to smarten up to the industry, and introduce a likeable and unique perspective to a stale booth defined by laziness and squabbling. Young however, produced literally beyond recognition, was needled by Corey Graves, relentlessly, over her ties to husband Dean Ambrose. Nothing is going to change this. If Jim Ross returned, Vince would have him exhaustedly run through a list of clichés, just like he demands of Michael Cole. We wouldn't see the return of the passionate, moral voice of the Attitude Era: we'd see New Japan Jim Ross.

SmackDown, as it so often does, fares better - but it's still not great. It's as inoffensive as RAW is offensive, reeking of WWE's trademark repetitive polish. Tom Phillips, while serviceable, is very much typical of WWE's modern approach: bland, good-looking, wholly unmemorable. Phillips has never added to an iconic moment with an iconic call.

With not so much a quick fix but a full mentality reversal required, alternatively, some brave soul could just put some gaffer tape over Vince's toxic mouth.
