10 Quick Fixes To Save The WWE Brand Split

9. Rename The SmackDown Women’s Championship

Not that SmackDown have been faultless themselves when it comes to introducing new championships.

I’m not saying that they shouldn’t have created a women’s title at all—not by any stretch of the imagination. With Nikki Bella returning to action, plus the call-ups of exciting prospects like Alexa Bliss and the recently-turned Carmella, there’s certainly a strong enough cast to justify having a title of their own.

Plus, unlike the aforementioned Universal Championship, the colour scheme is absolutely spot-on. However, it’s the naming of that title that’s left a little to be desired.

Calling it the SmackDown Women’s Championship certainly gets the point across well, but with Raw’s title being named the WWE Women’s Championship, this just makes the SmackDown title sound like a rather inferior knock-off. If it was the Raw Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship, then the belts would appear to be equals.

But it isn’t. So they’re not.

Referring to the title as the SmackDown Women’s Championship colloquially wouldn’t necessarily be an issue, but the official name should perhaps be something that suggests parity with the belt that’s on Raw.
