Big Show went from World Heavyweight Champion at the end of 2011 to a bit of joke by the time WrestleMania rolled around. One person who found this joke incredibly funny was Cody Rhodes.

Rhodes, the Intercontinental Champion at the time, continually mocked Big Show for his incredibly poor WrestleMania record. He called Show a "reverse Undertaker", making fun of his 3-8 record at The Show of Shows. He also showed clips from some of Show's most bizarre matches, such as his match with Floyd Mayweather and his sumo contest with Akebono, both of which The Giant lost.

However, Show used this as motivation to finally have his big WrestleMania moment and challenged Cody for his title. The story this match told was very effective, thanks to Show's likeability and Rhodes' incredible heel performance.

Great story or not, we were never going to get a 20 minute technical classic between Cody and Show. Thankfully, WWE realised this, and instead Show overcame Rhodes' speed and agility to hit his KO Punch and win.

A great example of a short match benefiting the story, Show and Rhodes did exactly what they needed to do in just 5 minutes and 19 seconds.
