Naomi captured the SmackDown Women's Championship in her home town of Orlando to a huge ovation at WrestleMania 33. However, this was not the first time the former Funkadactyl tasted gold.

Naomi actually won the belt for the first time at Elimination Chamber, beating Alexa Bliss in a singles match. Unfortunately, she injured herself in the process, forcing the title to be vacated.

The ex-champion's big return almost happened on the WrestleMania Kickoff show, with her, Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Mickie James, and Natalya scheduled for a six-pack challenge title match. However, after significant social media support, the match was moved to the main show, with Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin for the Intercontinental Championship pushed to the pre-show.

The main card of 'Mania 33 was already stacked and the last minute change meant that WWE struggled to fit this Women's title match in. As a result, Naomi forced Bliss to tap out in just 5 minutes and 35 seconds to recapture her title.

In contrast, Ambrose and Corbin got almost twice as long for their match. Whilst the women of SmackDown might have gotten themselves onto the main 'Mania card, it definitely came at a price.
