Thanks to Windham Rotunda's brilliance on the mic, it's easy to miss how Bray Wyatt's effortlessly magnetic promos mean absolutely nothing. He talks a good game but what does he actually mean, besides vague announcements that hes some form of demonic antichrist? I used to declare myself the antichrist at 1am every Friday night, but thats whisky for you. Moreover, dont you think that in the modern era it's ridiculous that a man claiming to be a supernatural creature - a demon possessed cult leader - is working for a professional wrestling organisation? The Undertaker and Kane do it, but theyre throwbacks to a dead era. In other promotions - Chikara, or Lucha Underground - this weird-ass sh** can fly, because it fits their internal logic, but it doesnt fit the internal logic set up for WWE. It flies in the face of every other storyline in the company and it makes no sense. There needs to be a reason why Bray Wyatt and his Family are in the WWE. He needs a focus or an endgame, a storyline reason to be there that informs every action he takes. The moment Bray Wyatt starts making sense in his promos, the moment we understand the stakes involved for him in taking part in matches and in being a WWE Superstar - thats when Bray Wyatt, as a character, starts to work.
