7. Erick Rowan Needs Some Beefing Up

Turning from character motivation for a moment, let€™s look at the weak link in the Wyatt Family, Erick Rowan. The real life Joseph Ruud was sidelined with a biceps injury when the WWE office decided to call up Braun Strowman, and only returned two months after the Black Sheep debuted. Since then, he's been sidelined once again, this time by creative. But who is he, and why is he there? Bray's role in the Family is obvious. Luke Harper is his right hand man, the only other guy who gets to cut full promos, the best worker in the stable by far, and arguably the most over of all of them. Braun Strowman is who he is, the big beast. That leaves Rowan, who€™s the only member of the Family to ever turn babyface, and who had all that confusing 'genius' gimmick attached to him. Is that all still canon? Is he still a wine connoisseur and renaissance man? Let€™s look at his role in the Wyatt Family. He's not the biggest monster in the stable any longer, and he's not the craziest. He's not even the only one wearing a sheep mask anymore, for God€™s sake, and €˜ginger€™ is not a defining character trait, no matter what the kids at school told you. Erick Rowan needs something to differentiate himself from the other two henchmen in the Family, or he'll end up the perennial loser of the team. He's already the go-to fall guy when they need someone pinned or eliminated. The Wyatt Family doesn€™t need a weak link...
