2. Vince McMahon "Dies"
From the very moment the assembled WWE roster watched Vince McMahon's limousine go up in flames, you knew that whatever we were about to see was going to be pretty bad.
It ended up being worse than any of us could ever imagine, however, when - just a week later - news broke that one of the company's most prominent employees, Chris Benoit, had tragically taken the lives of himself and his family.
Naturally, this development meant that WWE could no longer pursue a storyline in which an on-screen character, much less the man who would be appearing in uncomfortable news interviews over the next few weeks, was "presumed dead".
They had to drop the angle immediately, with the chairman of the board subsequently appearing on Raw to pay tribute to Benoit (which, as we would soon find out, was in itself another major miscalculation). This, we can say with a degree of certainty, is one thing that will never be mentioned on Raw again.
