10 Real-Life Dramas That Made It To Wrestling TV

5. Matt And Lita (And Edge)

Briefly the most famous all three had ever been outside of the wrestling bubble and ultimately the chain of events that lead Edge to superstardom, the real-life love lives of Matt Hardy, Lita and 'The Rated-R Superstar' were laid bare in unpleasant fashion in 2005.

In 2003, Matt Hardy requested a switch to Monday Night Raw to travel with his longterm partner Lita, who was a key member of the stronger female roster on the show.

Abandoning a prosperous 'Version One' persona on Smackdown, it wouldn't prove to be Matt's best career move, as he was promptly lost in the shuffle amongst the perceived 'bigger stars' on the A-show.

Injured in mid-2004, Matt took time off whilst Lita travelled with roster member Adam 'Edge' Copeland, which lead to an affair between the duo much to the obvious surprise of Copeland's wife Lisa Ortiz, who revealed the tryst to Matt Hardy during his convalescence.

Matt broke the story online, and was unceremoniously released by WWE as a result.

Lita and Edge were subjected to months of 'You Screwed Matt' chants, with the whole situation reflecting badly on the company for kicking a genuine victim while he was down.

Re-signing Hardy, the company immediately programmed the three together in a hit-and-miss blood feud that culminated with an Edge victory 'banishing' Matt back to his Smackdown home just over two years after he had left.
