10 Real Life Stories From The Final WCW Nitro

4. WWF Roster Were Shocked When McMahon Fired Jeff Jarrett

Looking like the proverbial kid in the candy store any time he appeared on screen that night, Vince McMahon was quite clearly loving the power he had over WCW, a company which came mightily close to running him out of business just a few short years prior. Never was the McMahon ego running more wild than when he pretty much fired Jeff Jarrett live on the air, telling his former Intercontinental Champion that there was no room for him in either the new WCW or the WWF. Jarrett had famously held McMahon up for more money in 1999 right before he left for WCW, just so he would agree to lose the Intercontinental belt to Chyna. According to Matt Hardy and others, the entire WWF roster sat slack-jawed after seeing Vince be so ruthless, and there were murmurings that more firings would be inevitable in the coming months, along with worries that it would be some guys on the WWF side who would be told to hit the bricks, making way for incoming names from WCW.
