10 Reasons AJ Lee's WWE Retirement Was The Right Call

Going into WrestleMania 31, the talk was all about "the decision" - Brock Lesnar's choice to re-sign with the WWE, closing the door, apparently, on his MMA career and time with the UFC for good. It was a move that perhaps changed the booking of the main event, and ensured one of the company's biggest draws would be around for at least three more years. Post-WrestleMania, however, it's another decision that made the news: the decision by the top "Diva" in the promotion, A.J. Lee, to retire. Lee has been the face of the Divas division for years, with very little in the way of competition until Paige came along. She married fellow WWE superstar CM Punk while still with the promotion (Punk was infamously fired on his wedding day). At the top of the mountain, she also managed to do something very few wrestlers get to: go out with a win. While a lot of emphasis is put on wrestlers leaving or retiring "putting over" up and comers, A.J.'s decision to retire was not communicated to the WWE until after her WrestleMania 31 win in a tag match with Paige against the Bella Twins. Moving forward, there's a world of possibilities for A.J., but regardless of where she winds up, one thing is clear: A.J. Lee (known now as April Jeanette Brooks) made the right choice in stepping away from World Wrestling Entertainment. Lets take a look at ten reasons why...
