10 Reasons Alberto Del Rio's WWE Return Is Failing

10. Lost In The Shuffle During Period Of Flux

In all fairness to WWE, things are incredibly difficult for the company's creative team at the current time. Perennial main event stars John Cena and Randy Orton are out for the time being, leaving them with no safety net when WWE Champion Seth Rollins was hit with a sudden knee injury at a house show. The usual transitional titleholders were unavailable, leading WWE to book a three-week tournament to crown a new champion, culminating at Survivor Series with the coronation of Roman Reigns followed by Sheamus' shocking cash-in. This major headache left the rest of the WWE roster treading water, leading to a distinctly uneven pay-per-view build. Alberto Del Rio was heavily featured in the tournament, losing to Reigns in the semi-finals. In their desperation, WWE turned to Del Rio's experience as a safe pair of hands in the ring to put over their new champion on his way to glory. Unfortunately, this led to the Del Rio character getting short shrift on programming and not being given much chance to cement his persona to fans who may not be familiar with his past work.
