4. Lack Of Crowd Enthusiasm
More than perhaps any other top performer on the WWE roster right now, Alberto Del Rio inspires absolute silent ambivalence from the WWE Universe. His matches frequently play out in front of crowds sitting on their hands and waiting to shout obscenities at Sheamus. They simply don't care enough to either cheer Del Rio or to boo him. His character has not been allowed to play babyface and hasn't been defined clearly enough as a heel to inspire the right amount of loathing from the fans. Del Rio is a solid hand in the ring, but lacks much in the way of fire. The combination of this and the underwhelming booking of his character has created a real sense that WWE is just filling time whenever Del Rio appears. Simply put, the WWE Universe is waiting to be given a reason to react to Del Rio and they're refusing to react to him until that reason arises.
