5. He Finally Broke His Silence

Following CM Punk's walkout from WWE in January, fans speculated as to what could have caused it. Whether it was an injury, issues with management, jealously of Daniel Bryan or displeasure of his place on the card, no one knew for sure. The only three people who could speak on what really happened were Vince McMahon, Triple H and Punk himself. And none of them budged. The most McMahon said about Punk was that he was taking a "sabbatical" from wrestling in a conference call in February. CM Punk remained silent on social media for close to four months. Even when Punk returned to Twitter in mid-May, he said nothing of his controversial departure. Months went by with no one having any real knowledge of what happened the day he left the company. It wasn't until Thanksgiving day he finally broke his silence on his good friend Colt Cabana's "Art of Wrestling" podcast. He embarked on a near-two hour rant where he gave his side of the story as to why he left. No announcement of it was made beforehand, taking the entire WWE Universe by complete surprise. The podcast grew so popular it crashed several servers for hours on end and rose up the ranks to No. 2 on the iTunes charts. In his candid discussion with Cabana, Punk went in-depth on injuries he was suffering from, his issues with the creative direction of his character and the company as a whole, heat he had with a handful of employees (including Triple H), and so much more. He had the entire wrestling world buzzing for days and unsurprisingly so. No one expected him to ever talk about what happened (or at least at the time he did). When he finally did, he and Cabana succeeded in "breaking the Internet." That's no small feat.
