Originally, Dana White was a boxing guy. An amateur boxer (though details are sketchy on whether he was ever any good), the former Boxercise instructor was even linked to a boxing match with Tito Ortiz during the height of their feud.

So, without question, White holds the sport of boxing near and dear to his heart.

That means White would never discount the allure of a marquee boxing event, despite being known as President of the biggest MMA promotion in history.

Beyond that, however, White was once linked to Mayweather himself. Back prior to his UFC days, White ran an apparel company called Bullenbeisser Boxing, which managed to get Mayweather on board. The boxing star actually wore a Bullenbeisser patch on his trunks. According to Mayweather, White even wound up tagging along with his crew at the time, telling TMZ " I don’t have anything against him, but I can remember Dana White used to hang around me and Jeff Mayweather and carry my bags."

Between the chance at putting on one of the biggest boxing events in history, and seeing Mayweather paid back for the "carry my bags" comment, White might be more inclined to make this bout that you think.
