10 Reasons Fans Stick With WWE Through The Worst Of Times

7. The Alternative Is What Exactly?

The inescapable reality of today€™s pro wrestling landscape is that the WWE has no legitimate competitor. No one comes close to delivering what the WWE can in terms of its talent roster and production quality. Try as TNA has over the years, even the most casual observer will be able to tell that the promotion is, overall, vastly inferior. For wrestling fans, then, there simply is no real alternative to WWE when it comes to slick, highly produced in-ring product. The Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW were very much the glory days for fans as they could literally switch back and forth between two huge wrestling promotions at the top of their game. With the war now long over, however, there is only WWE. Although ECW may not have been in the same league as WWE or WCW, it offered such a distinctive product that it was, in fact, a third viable option for fans back in the day. Sure, current independent promotion Ring of Honor has a very loyal fan base, a solid roster and TV distribution, thanks to its parent company, the Sinclair Broadcast Group. But where ROH excels in its highlighting of great technical wrestling, it lags far behind in basic production values and ring psychology amongst its young performers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpIq20RROhU Other indie and foreign feds may all have something different going for them, but if you€™re looking for a show like Monday Night RAW, WWE is the only game in town.

I am a writer and stand-up comedian living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I didn't witness the Bret Hart screw job in person, but I did watch the Breaking Point PPV live and that was terrible it its own way. I am dangerously obsessed with professional wrestling and its surrounding culture. I am the current ring announcer for a local fed called the IWS. I got to introduce Tommy Dreamer a while back. My head almost exploded. I am a mark, and proud of it. I also co-host a podcast called Go Plug Yourself, which has featured quite a few local wrestlers and even Mick Foley. Speaking of the Mickster, I once got to be his warmup act when he was in town for comiccon. My head actually exploded that time. I've recovered... sort of.
