Something WWE rarely do nowadays is act on what's hot. For example, take a look at WrestleMania 30, when it took a near revolt to make them finally act on the overness of Daniel Bryan. Then this year at WrestleMania 31, they came really close to sticking with the long held plans for Roman Reigns, even though they clearly weren't working. There's a reluctance in the company to act on the now, and they far prefer to stick with longer held notions. But with Owens, the character is maturing so quickly that they may need to act on him immediately. He can't be allowed to drift away into something generic, the company must strike while the iron is hot. Putting him against Lesnar now is the money, not in nine or twelve months time. Back in the Attitude Era, the company was fluid like that and it worked great.
