10 Reasons Kevin Owens Is WWE's Most Valuable Superstar
7. The Purest Heel On The Roster
Over the last six years, WWE has leaned far too heavily on the cowardly heel. Their villains have been one dimensional in that they run from a fight and cheat to win. Kevin Owens, to this point, has been the antithesis of that, providing the company with its purest heel in nearly a decade. The result has been a refreshing take on the role, one he fills to perfection.
Many of the great heels of the last 50 years have stated, in one form or fashion, that the trademark of a great wrestling villain is the ability to justify their actions by believing everything they do and say, no matter how wrong it may be. Owens exhibits that, chalking up his betrayal of longtime friend Sami Zayn to his desire to be NXT champion and, thus, provide his family with the best life imaginable.
Furthermore, the excuses every loss with a sharp promo the next show, blaming his opponent, the fans or The Authority for the unfair conditions he was put in to begin with.
To top it all off, he cuts promos telling the WWE Universe how great he is, then wins clean with the Pop-up Powerbomb to prove his claims right. It is always easier to dislike a character when they brag about their greatness, then back it up. Owens does that expertly, even if he does currently find himself on a bit of a losing streak.
