10 Reasons We All Love WWE's Hell In A Cell Gimmick

9. The Cell Looks Intimidating

The grandeur of wrestling is getting to see things that you wouldn€™t normally see in real life. Be it 7-foot-tall athletes or indoor pyro displays, the spectacle always plays a huge role in the overall entertainment experience of a wrestling show. The Hell in a Cell took the intimidation of a steel cage and turned up the voltage by moving the cage to the outside, making it higher, and adding a roof over it. Suddenly, a match normally known for escape was replaced by a match where the competitors couldn€™t get out (although they usually did). The original cell was 16 feet off the ground, and they somehow made it bigger. At Unforgiven 2006, the WWE debuted a new 20-foot-high amplified version of the cell. Functionally, this was because nobody was going to be taking a bump off the cage anymore, but visually, it looked much more impressive.
