9. The Poffo Family Could Easily Fit Into The Hall Of Fame...
If WWE bigwigs did decide to honour Randys wishes and induct his family into the Hall of Fame, they really wouldnt be doing anything wrong... As Leaping Lanny Poffo, The Macho Mans younger brother was a firm mid card favourite during the mid 1980s. Later on, he adopted the persona of The Genius (think Dean Douglas or Damien Sandow today and youve got it). He was possibly the first WWE wrestler to use a moonsault and he was among the first modern style high fliers in American pro wrestling. Lanny did a lot of service for the business and was a hard working, dedicated talent, the likes of which are crucial to wrestling as an industry. If perpetual WWE jobbers like Steve Lombardi and Johnny Rodz are to be celebrated (which is absolutely right) in the Hall of Fame, then why not solid, popular mid-card attractions too? In addition, Angelo Poffo, Randys father, was a greatly respected wrestler and promoter; he had his first match in 1949 and his last match in 1991. A member of the WCW Hall of Fame, Poffo was a former United States Champion (Chicago version) and a star of the 50s and 60s. He was an NWA Tag Team Champion in the Detroit area (with Lanny) as well as a member of the Cauliflower Alley Club. So, there would be no shame in inducting both men, alongside Randy, into the WWE Hall of Fame in recognition for their services to the wrestling industry.
