Hulk Hogan has always been ahead of his time. From breaking attendance records to helping establish pay-per-view, Hogan has unquestionably been a forerunner throughout his career.

Until a 2011 radio appearance however, little did we know of Hulk Hogan's history with shoot fighting.

When asked if he would have considered a career in MMA, Hogan informed Hulkamaniacs around the world that in fact he had indeed come into contact with shoot fighters during his time in Japan in the 1970s.

Hogan revealed that he had even come against Pride fighters in the squared circle, and was wary of their shoot skills.

Unfortunately for the Hulkster, facts of existence negated his habitual line-stepping, namely that Pride Fighting Championships wasn't founded until 1997; likewise, none of its participants competed in professional wrestling in the 1970s.

If that were not matter of fact enough, Hogan himself only debuted in 1977 and didn't work a date in Japan until 1980, rendering his entire recollection of events as familiar f*ckery.
