The entire setup for the Royal Rumble match is all about Roman Reigns. It is his obstacle to overcome. It isn't really about anyone else. If WWE had wanted to do a title change, they could have just done a conventional screwjob in a normal title match. There's no need to do an elaborate Rumble in order for someone else to win the belt. WWE structured the whole narrative with a Reigns victory in mind. Could plans change? Yes, but as of right now, it's clear that the storyline is that Roman Reigns will overcome yet another McMahon obstacle and further establish himself as a dominant champion. That's the narrative purpose, a bad guy stacking the odds, and the hero overcoming the challenges to win (or retain) the treasure. It's booking like this that creates real stars. It is the right thing to do and, after January 24, Roman Reigns will well and truly be the man in WWE. Believe that.
