2. Legacy
Part of WWE putting their championship on Sting could be about re-casting him as their own legend. It sounds petty, but they really do still have to have the last word on WCW. When Vince McMahon talks about Sting, he wants to be talking about one of his own, rather than this success story from another company. Sting becoming WWE Champion, for however briefly, is that legacy changer. He goes from being the WCW guy, to being a former WWE Champion. A year ago it seemed like an unlikely development to his legacy and WWE's history, but now it looks very much a possibilty that Sting could be a WWE Champion.
