10 Reasons Vince McMahon Needs To Retire By Year’s End

5. He's Out Of Touch

If WWE is supposed to target children as its main audience, how many children born since 2002 have heard the words €œsuffering succotash€? And even if they were many, how many of them would actually find that funny? Vince somehow thinks that the average wrestling fan will like what he likes or will laugh at what he finds funny. He also thinks that a man in a bunny costume dry-humping another man in wrestling gear is both funny and appropriate (in hindsight, that was one of the most awkward phrases every typed). In reality, Vince has no idea what the modern fan wants or what they find funny. He seems to follow the one-size fits all model, in that what a family finds funny will also make older male viewers laugh as well, which, of course, is a terrible idea. At the same time, Vince reportedly doesn€™t care whatsoever about the IWC or €˜smarter€™ wrestling fans, despite the hidden gems of creativity and insight that can be found from time to time. Despite the frequency of complaints read on forums across the Internet, sometimes, fans come up with great ideas that would actually make more sense than what Vince is doing. For example, one person suggested that WWE make RAW TV-PG and SmackDown TV-14, while keeping the brands separate in the same way as they were in 2002. This idea would, in theory and in application, solve several problems. It would allow both segments of the audience (children and adult males, whose interests in WWE are often polar opposites), to each get their own show; and it would give fans a bigger incentive to watch SmackDown, which has lost relevancy and viewership in recent years. This is quite possible the biggest personality flaw that Vince has right now. He refuses to acknowledge that times have changed, and that in many respects he has failed to adapt to a new audience with new desires in wrestling. If he can€™t change with the times, then he should retire.
