10 Reasons You Should Watch Lucha Underground

4. Mil Muertes And Catrina Are A Great Couple

The introduction of the Mil Muertes character was really well done. He's been previously known as Mesias or Ricky Banderas, but if you've never seen him before all you need to know he's one of the tougher luchadores in the company. There was a video package on the third episode that talked about his backstory saying that he lost his entire family in an earthquake where thousands of lives were lost. He was at the brink of death, but he was able to survive. The video also said his name was Pascual Mendoza. He changed it to Mil Muertes. The video ended with Catrina saying that a thousand deaths are coming. After a few episodes, Muertes is in a heel role although it wouldn't be a surprise if he ends up as a babyface down the road. http://youtu.be/PHiHMUtG_gA Catrina's a personal favorite because when she was Maxine in WWE NXT a few years ago she was one of the most compelling characters there. It's great to see that she's being used well in Lucha Underground because she comes across as a huge star. The fact that she's really good looking certainly helps too. More importantly than that, she already has a move that belongs to her: The Lick. She licks the face of men that Muertes either wants to beat or already has beat. It's a warning. When it comes to creating new stars that could be breakout performers in the wrestling business, Catrina has the potential to be one of them. Muertes will go far too, but she's the one that already has people talking. Fear the lick of death.
