Women's wrestling has been alive and well in NXT since the birth of the brand's division in 2013. There, the women were never subjected to being called "Divas" or competing in pointless matches that were mere minutes long. They were actually appreciated.

Although NXT and WWE are one in the same (in terms of who runs the place and not necessarily how they're run), there was always a disconnect between the two when it came to women's wrestling. It was nearly night and day.

Of course, the "Divas Revolution" was a gigantic flop, but the talent involved, most notably Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch thrived in spite of the bad booking. Each of them got over with the audience on their own, leading to an exciting Triple Threat match between the three at WrestleMania 32. The only thing left to do was to get rid of the awful-looking Divas Championship and everything that it stood for.

At WrestleMania, WWE began its rebranding of the entire division by debuting an all-new WWE Women's Championship and doing away with the outdated "Diva" terminology. Charlotte, Lynch, and Banks then went on to steal the show on the grandest stage of them of all.

Women's wrestling in WWE is by no means perfect, but it is undoubtedly in the best shape it's been in years and will continue to grow going forward.
