2. Return Of The Brand Split
Although this is only a recent development, it is surely one of the most exciting things to happen thus far in 2016.
Rumors of the Brand Split returning have come and gone in the last few years, but nothing ever came of them until now. It was initially done away with in August 2011 when the "Supershow" gimmick was created and it became apparent it wasn't being brought back any time soon once the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships were unified in late 2013.
However, with so much talent being called up from NXT and not enough opportunities for everyone on the active roster, it was high time the Brand Split was instituted once again. News broke in May that once SmackDown goes live on Tuesday nights this summer, Raw and SmackDown will have distinct rosters for the first time in nearly five years.
It was the best thing that could have happened to the roster and will be the shakeup the shows have needed for some time now. There is already excitement in the air regarding who will end up where and what it will mean for WWE's top-tier talent. Again, if this is executed the right way, it can end up being a major positive for everyone involved.
