10 Reasons Why Daniel Bryan Belongs On WWE's Mount Rushmore
3. Team Hell No In General
Mismatched tag teams in wrestling either succeed massively or fail massively.
Thankfully, for Daniel Bryan and Kane, they were a roaring triumph that came along at precisely the right time. No one needed to see Primo and Epico atop WWE's doubles division; even WWE knew this, hence why they booked the programme of 'The YES! Man' and 'The Big Red Machine' so perfectly.
Going from colliding at August's SummerSlam to winning the tag straps at September's Night Of Champions, albeit inadvertently, was a rare perfect example of WWE booking. The titles weren't hot-shotted onto the duo without good reasoning. Creative knew that by giving them the titles so soon that it would create a far better story arc between the duo than if they didn't have the gold, or rather, the bronze.
Their run as WWE Tag Team Champions wasn't that great in terms of its actual in-ring action - a bout vs. Johnny Curtis and Michael McGillicutty surprisingly didn't land - but the actual full story that was told between the partners was one of wrestling's greatest 'will they or won't they get along' arcs. It's why WWE briefly revisited the duo upon Bryan's return to action in 2018. Fans responded immensely positively to the tag team.
A story involving Dr. Shelby and two lads sharing a hug shouldn't have gotten over as much as it did, and yet, it was one of WWE's standout moments of 2012.
