10 Reasons Why DDP Was The Original People’s Champ Of Wrestling
9. Kimberley
With a target demographic of 18-30 year old males, wrestling in the late 1990s was all about two things: violence and sex appeal. The guys supplied the violence and the girls provided the sex appeal.
With his Playboy model wife, Kimberley Page, by his side as he took care of business inside the ropes, DDP provided both ingredients during his time on the air. In addition to being eye candy for the strong male contingent of the audience, Kimberley also added another dimension to DDP’s character and allowed him to weave her into storylines, develop feuds and gain additional fan support in the process.
Perhaps her most memorable moment in wrestling came during the DDP/Randy Savage feud of 1997. As the heel, Savage targeted Kimberley on a number of occasions, spray painting the nWo letters on her and defacing her pictures in Playboy Magazine. As such, Mrs Page was a notable ingredient in the storyline and instrumental in making the bitter feud between Savage and DDP personal.
Kimberley was also responsible for forming the famed Nitro Girls dance group and became a much-loved part of Nitro history in her own right.
