10 Reasons Why Impact Wrestling's Latest Reboot Is Destined To Fail

1. The 'Reboot' Is Cosmetic At Best

While WWE tend to quietly evolve from one era to another with minimal public fanfare, Impact are quite the opposite. The promotion have staged countless reboots over the years, and take great pride in making a huge song and dance every single time. They’re a company driven by the constant desire to reinvent themselves, but, unfortunately, they’re rarely successful in doing so.

Impact love telling us that they’re undergoing a reboot, but they’re not so good at showing it. Aside from a number of huge personnel reshuffles, the company’s product is largely the same today as it was 10 years ago, and while the GFW rebranding will likely be presented as a bold new era, there’s little evidence to suggest that anything has really changed.

They’ve fired a few backstage personnel, changed their name, and switched their titles up. Aside from this, the programming doesn’t look set for any major changes. Impact has been a fairly enjoyable show throughout 2017, but this hasn’t resulted in a significant increase in viewership or general buzz. This isn’t the revolution Jarrett wants us to think it is: it’s a series of cosmetic changes, and should only succeed in staving off stagnation for a couple weeks before normality resumes.
