10 Reasons Why Impact Wrestling's Latest Reboot Is Destined To Fail

2. Double J Is Only In It For Himself

Jeff Jarrett GFW

Jeff Jarrett is made of teflon. He has been at the heart of several minor scandals throughout his career, but nothing sticks, and he always finds a way to emerge as a winner.

In 1999, Jarrett extorted Vince McMahon for $300,000 so that he wouldn’t leave WWE with the Intercontinental Championship belt. In 2002, Jeff and his father Jerry saw the opportunity to cash in on TNA by selling a majority stake the Carter family, with Jeff retaining a certain degree of power. He then used this to continually book himself as the company’s top star throughout its first few years of existence, much to the fans’ chagrin.

Now, after years of abject failure with GFW, Jarrett somehow has control of his company back. He is wrestling’s carny king, and unfortunately, none of this bodes will for the promotion’s future.

Everything from the way he left WWE in 1999 to the early 2017 hiring of close allies Dutch Mantel and Scott D’Amore suggests that Jarrett is a man driven primarily by personal gain. If this reboot flops, it won’t even be Jeff that suffers, as he only owns 10% of the shares. As such, he can afford to mess around and make the new GFW his own personal playground, then run away when it inevitably flops.
