10 Reasons Why Impact Wrestling's Latest Reboot Is Destined To Fail

3. Embracing Another Poisoned Brand

If the idea behind going from Impact to GFW was to distance the company from the failings of the past, Anthem and Jarrett have made a deeply confusing decision. This is a sidestep at best, and at worst, it only exasperates their seemingly irreparable perception issues.

Yes, TNA was a poisoned brand, and so was Impact to a degree, but Global Force Wrestling is no better. Jarrett’s inability to get the promotion off the ground has made the initials a buzzword for failure. GFW doesn’t exactly conjure images of a prospering wrestling company, but a colossal flop that has laid dormant for the best part of the year, and if Impact is to undergo a complete GFW revamp, those associations will become their own.

GFW’s history is short, but entirely negative. It turned out to be little more than a front for Jarrett’s gold-selling scam, and the company just gave up on running events halfway through 2016. That Anthem were suckered into agreeing to the renaming shows naivety on their behalf, as at the moment, the GFW takeover looks like little more than another Jarrett vanity project.
