10 Reasons Why JBL Is WWE's Most Controversial Figure
2. The Comeuppance Stories
If there's one thing JBL is good at, it's avoiding comeuppance. Fans called for his head countless times throughout his run, but Bradshaw was often considered bulletproof, and no matter how bad the claims got, his employers never once took action. Regardless, the former WWE Champion was served his just desserts on a couple of occasions, and both are immensely satisfying.
The most famous example took place when WWE went to Iraq for their Tribute To The Troops tour in 2008. JBL had singled announcer Joey Styles out for hazing on that particular trip, but the former ECW man wasn't going to take it. He fought back, provoking a physical confrontation with the much larger JBL, who was knocked out with a single punch right below the eye, leaving him utterly humiliated.
Steve Blackman also put JBL in his place a few years prior. As told by Bob Holly, the story goes that Bradshaw tried to harass 'The Lethal Weapon' in an airport, and persisted despite several warnings. He pushed Blackman too far, so Steve blitzed him with a flurry of punches, putting the fear of god into his tormentor.
These tales don't solidify JBL's position as a controversial figure on their own, but the fact that this actions were bad enough to prompt colleagues to respond with violence certainly does.
