10 Reasons Why NXT TakeOver: The End Was Sadly Underwhelming

4. Nakamura Vs. Aries Was Just 'Good'

Sorry, IWC. Shinsuke Nakamura's highly anticipated clash with Austin Aries wasn't the show-stealing contest it should have been.

This was a bout that had match of the year candidate written all over it. It was always going to be difficult to top Nakamura and Sami Zayn's stunning match from TakeOver: Dallas, but it was expected that this would go close. It didn't.

Was it a bad match? Not at all. With Nakamura displaying his trademark shenanigans and Aries being made to look like a legitimate threat to defeat the King of Strong Style, it did its job as midcard entertainment. Did it have the potential to be much more than that? Most definitely.

The sense of inevitability was possibly the downfall. Unlike in Nakamura and Zayn's bout, there was no doubt that the King of Strong Style was going to come up trumps. On the other hand, maybe it's the events - or non-events - after the bell that soured this contest.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
