Another thing that made the ladder Match so gripping was that, heading into it, it was one of the few contests in which we hadn't a clue who was going to walk about with the belt(s) on the night - Jeff Hardy hadn't long won the gold, Sami Zayn had never truly lost it and there's rarely an environment in which AJ Styles isn't a formidable contender. But that unpredictability lent itself beautifully to what was, without a doubt, one of the most creative finishes in recent wrestling history.

Sami Zayn's efficient attempts to remove his opponents from the equation by handcuffing parts of their body to ladders wasn't just unexpected, it was incredibly clever on creative's part and allowed the new/old/ever-lasting Intercontinental Champion to shine as the master manipulator heel that he is.

It was unfair to the other competitors but it was also such a plainly obvious solution to this type of match that it's maddening to think that nobody thought of it before.

The sheer brilliance of this cannot be overstated, and here's hoping it leads to a long - and equally creative - title reign for Zayn.
