8. Asuka Returns To Prominence
Asuka has been sorely underappreciated since her undefeated streak was broken. Though all good things must come to an end, creative showed a lack of care for her aura as ridiculous subsequent defeats to the likes of Carmella soon followed, destroying all of the lustre that once surrounded the Empress of Tomorrow.
She’s regained fragments of that aura throughout the past two years but even when she finally got the Raw Women’s Championship earlier this year, she became a pawn in the Bayley/Sasha Banks angle instead. Yet again, it seemed like she was back on track when she won the gold back off Banks only for creative to stick her on the Kick-Off show in a last-minute match with an opponent hardly worthy of a title shot right now.
However, even though the match with Zelina Vega may not have been a show-stopper, the fact that it was moved back onto the main card, along with the fact that she won decisively (and then made a reappearance later in the night to get revenge on Bayley) positioned her as someone not to be trifled with. And that's exactly the type of formidable force that she should be portrayed as.
