10 Reasons Why WWE Fans Are Sick Of Nostalgia

6. Better Nostalgia Is But A Click Away

WWE, in the Network age, continues to put nostalgia over while simultaneously overexposing it.

The Network brings into immediate, one-click-away focus just how far the returns have diminished. WWE touts the idea of Triple H as a performer who, in the words of his wife, "just gets better and better". Revisiting the archives confirms that this is pure rhetoric. At the absolute peak of his powers, in the year 2000, Trips did more for Taka Michinoku than he did for Seth Rollins in 2017.

John Cena, per the Wrestling Observer, is set for a major WrestleMania 34 match in New Orleans - one far bigger than a WWE Heavyweight Title Match opposite AJ Styles. This drastically narrows the field, given that Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar is nailed on.

Batista? Would a battle between two part-time stars really pique any more interest than their 2010 series?

The Undertaker? That is a major, major match - but the Undertaker has done significant damage to his readily accessible legacy in recent years. He looked done years before he ceremonially retired in Orlando.

Goldberg? His arc felt complete on the post-WrestleMania 33 RAW. He also struggled through a combined sub-ten minute six month stint.

Hulk Hogan? Would he even pass the first stage of WWE's stringent medical testing?

Better versions of these matches - better versions of these stars - are available within minutes on the Network. The same history that glorifies these men also condemns them.

Having written all that...
