10 Reasons Why WWE Live Event Attendances Are Shrinking

6. The Fans Themselves

WWE fans have come under increased levels of scrutiny over the past few years, and their behaviour and conduct at live events has never been as far under the microscope as it is today.

Crowds hijacking shows with rogue chants aren't anything new, but incidents like 'Beach Ball Mania' and the annual post-WrestleMania Raw audience takeovers have pushed the issue to the forefront. The argument is that these fans are trying to get themselves over rather than the wrestlers they've paid to watch, and that this isn't just disrespectful to the performers, but damaging to the product at the whole.

It's a tricky issue, because while the company can place certain rules and regulations to restrict such behaviour (banning beach balls, for one), they can't become too totalitarian, or they'll remove the fun of attending a live show. Regardless, the problem is escalating, and it's only a matter of time before the next big incident.

This is speculative, but there's every chance that such behaviour actively discourages other fans from attending live shows. The incidents obviously don't happen at every single show, but many share the opinion that crowd hijacks are ruining the WWE experience, and may seek to avoid them at all costs.
