10 Reasons Why WWE Must Turn John Cena Heel Immediately

4. It Could Extend His Career

For at least 10 years, Cena's been playing the same character - he's the company's franchise player, the "never say die" good guy who refuses to back down from any fight. Some fans love him, others hate him, and he's very vocal about accepting their opinions no matter what. Still, the same gimmick can only work for so long - and with Raw ratings as low as they are, it might be the right time to start questioning whether Cena's gimmick is still working. A heel John Cena would be a completely fresh character, and as such, there would be no immediate expiration date on it. He could spend the next three or five years exploring his heel character, milking it for all it's worth, and eventually turning babyface again when the time is right. Plus, as a heel, there's less of an onus on Cena to be athletic and use high-risk, high-impact maneuvers. Cena's not old, but his 40th birthday isn't far away, and if he wants his career to last another decade, maybe some changes ought to be made. After all, it's not like he isn't good enough to still have great matches without the top rope legdrop.
