10 Reasons Why WWE Peaked In The Year 2000

7. Tag Team Wrestling Was At Its Absolute Best

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCgJv4pV8vo There were two periods in the history of WWE where tag teams were clearly the best. In the late 1980s and early 1990s they had so many teams that had team names and were great units. The division was anchored by the likes of the Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs and Demolition. For most of the 1990s, the tag division was just average. Then it got really good in the late 1990s with the New Age Outlaws and by 2000 it was anchored by three teams: Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boys and the Dudley Boys. Those three teams won the tag titles a combined eight times in 2000. It was one of those situations where they had so many deserving teams at the time, so they had a tough time booking any of them to have long title reigns. They just kept moving the titles around. There are also other regular tag times that year including the APA, Too Cool, Test & Albert (with the lovely Trish Stratus), Right to Censor (Buchanan and Goodfather were tag champs for a month) and even a temporary tag team made up of The Rock and Undertaker even had a one day tag title reign. It was the year when they had the first triangle ladder match (WrestleMania 16) and the first TLC match (SummerSlam). It's incredible to think about how great those teams all were at the same time. They were a big reason why 2000 was such a special year.
