10 Reasons Why WWE SmackDown Is Better Than Raw

1. More Coherent Storylines

One area where Raw and SmackDown are comparable is sheer talent. WWE as a whole has a stronger roster than it's had in years (maybe ever), and that's reflected on both brands. The shows are filled with stars who are capable of putting on incredible matches.

Why, then is SmackDown so much better than Raw? Apart from all of the things I've already mentioned, it's a simple matter of booking. Feuds and storylines on SmackDown are straightforward, with wrestlers fighting over titles or fighting for glory, trying to one-up each other at every turn.

On Raw, there are always things getting in the way, whether it's Stephanie McMahon getting involved, teasing a triple threat match while ultimately preserving an upcoming PPV main event, or searching for a stolen list. It comes off as a cross between trying to kill time and trying to get to the finish line by using the most circuitous path possible.

Maybe the superior storylines on SmackDown account for all of the other advantages it has over Raw, or maybe it's the result of them. Either way, they're at the heart of SmackDown's superiority.
