10 Reasons Why WWE SmackDown Is Better Than Raw
3. Better Anchors
When the brands were first split back in July, fans complained that Raw got the better end of the deal. They were right - while there aren't enough true stars in the company to justify a split in the first place, Raw definitely got the deeper roster. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, The New Day, and Brock Lesnar all ended up on the red brand, and even mid-card workers like Sami Zayn and Cesaro - who could be doing more on the blue brand - ended up squandered on Raw.
Nevertheless, Raw seems to be suffering from the fact that it's missing a true centerpiece. Seth Rollins's babyface run has been booked as badly as Kevin Owens's Universal Title reign, and Roman Reigns still isn't connecting like a babyface should. Lesnar's appearances are sporadic, and while The New Day and Chris Jericho are great, they aren't being used on top of the card.
SmackDown, by contrast, is built around AJ Styles, and while Styles may not be any more of a name than Rollins, Reigns, or Owens, he's been so good lately that he feels like a true champion. John Cena has also been doing incredible work, which is likely to continue when he gets back. Dean Ambrose has also recovered some momentum since losing the WWE World Championship.
So yes, SmackDown may be lacking depth, but the top of the card is rock solid.
