10 Reasons WrestleMania 31 Was Overrated

2. Triple H vs Sting Became Another WCW Burial

Triple H seemed a changed man, one willing to put over big stars for the sake of an unforgettable moment. The sight of Sting standing tall at WrestleMania would have been iconic, up there with many classic WCW-related moments such as...Goldberg eating a stunner, Booker T losing clean to the Game, and Hogan teaming up with Rocky to run off his nWo stablemates. Come to think of it, there has never been an instance of a bonafide WCW star truly enjoying a WrestleMania moment, as mind-bending and exhilarating as that would be. It's almost as if the WWE is terrified of showing itself in an inferior light to its long-vanquished competition in even the smallest way. Hmm. The fact that this match was an overbooked mess doesn't matter; the run-ins of DX and the nWo actually fuelled it with even greater excitement. The fact that Triple H went over, however, seems spiteful and wrong. This was Sting's moment, his rabidly-awaited WWE debut many didn't expect ever to occur. The fact that he not only lost to the Game, but actually shook his hand after losing in a dirty fashion, has to go down as one of the most disappointing booking decisions in 'Mania history.
